About the artist
Through the seemingly limitless ambitions of my childhood, which helped cultivate my creativity, the desire to create has lead me through many paths in the arts.
Being a self taught artist, I have
taught art classes in the U.S., then in 2015 began an internship in arts and Christian children’s ministry within Japan. After continuing outreach programs in Chicago and further internships to Japan, I currently reside there with my husband and 2 children.
Currently I’m an exhibiting artist of watercolors as well as mixed media pressed flower artworks. As a member of B&A ministries, I exhibit works annually in Tokyo with this program. My latest exhibition was in Fuji City, with Momokuriten. I teach monthly art workshops for parents and children in Shizuoka prefecture and have volunteered for the past 6 years as a children’s art teacher in my local church.
As I see the need and interest grow for art opportunities in English, I am currently gathering supplies and ideas to further reach out to the needs of the community in my city. I plan to one day run my own studio with in house workshops and programs for people of all ages. To grow passion for art and English.
Online and on social media, I sometimes go by the “pen name” Lady Liddie.
The Inspiration
“My artistic expression emphasizes color, the voice of God through nature, and the quiet, peaceful moments often overlooked.”
Painting with watercolor is a therapeutic act, which also challenges her mental and physical strength through the delicate and slow nature of the medium.
A recent love for pressed flowers has also bloomed, which brings an exciting look at using pattern and color already given to us in nature.
“It’s fascinating to be able to make beautiful things in many forms. I hope my artwork brings you joy and peace. I hope it makes you slow down and think on the beauty of life, and the quiet moments where if we stop to listen, we can see and hear God through the beauty of nature.”
